Why I Decided to Blog Again

The last time I started a blog I was moving across the country to a new town with a new job. I was single and youngerish and jumping into the next chapter of life without reservation. I rekindled my love of writing and shared more with the Internet, friends, and family than I had in years. My blog was a place to celebrate and be vulnerable. It was lovely and it served its purpose. I retired my blog in 2011 and didn’t look back.

A lot has changed in my life since I started that blog years ago. In addition to the changes to my life, the Internet, social media, and the world have changed in countless ways. As the presidential primaries started to heat up in late 2015, I began to enjoy looking at Facebook less and less. Articles, opinions, and debate filled up my timeline. I retreated. I didn’t want to participate. I didn’t want to share. I wanted a space on the Internet that could be on my terms.

Here we are, my blog. My space. My terms. I decided to blog again so when I want to share a thought, a picture, part of myself, I have a place that is mine. I know my new blog will evolve over time and I’m excited to see what it becomes. For now, I am going to keep it simple and let it organically grow with me. If I ever look back and wonder why I decided to blog again, I will know, it was for me.

I’m glad you came back! I love your space. I’m curious—do you take your own pictures? They’re all so lovely. Take care, —W.
